Lincoln Hospital and Clinics warn of new healthcare insurance option

DAVENPORT – Lincoln Hospital and Clinics would like to warn residents to verify network and provider coverage when selecting a health plan from the Washington health exchange platform. The health insurance products from United Healthcare of Oregon, Inc. Cascade Select are not accepted by Lincoln Hospital and Clinics as well as many referral specialists in Spokane County.

“We would hate for our patients to sign up for this plan, only to find out they aren’t covered when they need to access healthcare with us and many of the other providers in our area,” said Timothy O’Connell, Chief Financial Officer for Lincoln Hospital and Clinics.

Lincoln Hospital and Clinics has opted not to work with United Healthcare in this new exchange platform offering due to ongoing issues for patients and providers with coverage and payment. “Our experience is that this company has made it difficult for our patients to access healthcare,” O’Connell said.

All other insurance products offered for Lincoln County on the state’s health insurance exchange are accepted at Lincoln Hospital and Clinics. Those shopping for health insurance should always check to make sure a potentially new insurance product is accepted with their primary care providers and the healthcare systems they primarily utilize. This can be done by calling the healthcare provider’s billing office or entering that information on the HealthPlanFinder website when shopping for a plan at http://www.wahealthplanfinder.org.
