King is "most influential teacher"

ODESSA – Terri King, business teacher and FBLA advisor at Odessa High School, was notified in 2020 that she had been selected by 2020 U.S. Presidential Scholar Madelynn Jae Wagner as her most influential teacher.

Former U.S. Secretary of Education under President Donald Trump, Betsy DeVos, informed King of her selection. DeVos wrote in her letter to King, “Great teachers help change students’ lives in positive ways. Student achievement knows no bounds when an innovative and resourceful teacher is there to guide and unleash students’ potential. You help prepare each student for successful careers and a meaningful life. Thank you for your commitment and dedication. You are vital to your students’ success.”

King continues to mentor her students in FBLA who have competed successfully in virtual conferences during 2020 and now into 2021. Although they have missed out on travel opportunities and the personal interactions of in-person conferences, the students continue to excel when presenting their projects via video-conferencing.
