Rita Dudley

Rita Dudley passed away March 22, 2021, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She was born in Irby, Wash., U.S.A. on Aug. 17, 1934. She was the youngest daughter of Victoria and Jacob Ott of Irby, Wash.

Rita completed her secondary studies at Odessa High School and then received a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Washington State University. She married John Granville Dudley in June 1957 with whom she raised five children. They lived their married life in Pullman Wash., Boise Idaho and Odessa Wash. before moving to Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1963. They stayed in Montreal until the couple retired to the Quebec countryside in 1993 to be gentlemen farmers. There she spent many happy years tending to their gardens, hosting large family gatherings at every occasion and watching their grandchildren grow up. After her husband of 60 years passed away in February 2017, Rita moved back to Montreal where she was near many of her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted mother and instilled strong family and traditional values in all her children. Everyone felt at home with Rita.

Rita is survived by her children Dean David (Sarah), Lynnae Marie (Mahrez), Cynthia Rita (Andrew), Shanna Jeanne (Yvan) and Yvonne Rae (Remo). She has thirteen loving grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She has three surviving sisters, Ruth M. Schaefer (Spokane Wash.), Anna Jean Hedelius (Ephraim, UT), and Lois Iksic (Odessa, Wash.)
