Davenport senior Darby Soliday moves downfield March 25 against Northwest Christian. Soliday scored 29 goals this season.

SPOKANE – Davenport's quest to finish off the season with a league championship came up short against the St. George's Dragons in the NE2B title match Saturday, March 27. St. George's topped the Gorillas 3-1.

"(I) hate to complain about officiating, but it was lopsided and inconsistent," Davenport coach Monty Soliday said. "Early bad calls (took) the momentum away and (we) never recovered. Tough way to end a season!"

Davenport's lone goal came from senior Darby Soliday, who scored on a header off a corner kick assist from fellow senior Ellie Telford. Soliday finished the season with 29 goals and five assists for 63 total points. Telford's assist was her third of the season to go with three goals scored.

St. George's led 2-1 at halftime. The Dragons scored first off a penalty kick before Soliday's goal tied the match. St. George's got another penalty kick score later in the first half, then scored an insurance goal in the second half.

Davenport finished the season with an 8-2-1 record.
