Reardan-Edwall School District opening alternative school

REARDAN – In light of COVID and ever-changing guidelines, the Reardan-Edwall School District created the Options Program which housed approximately 130 students, kindergarten through 12th grade, during the 2020-2021 school year. This program provided a way for families to teach their children in a non-traditional setting.

Moving forward to the 21-22 school year, the district applied for and received the green light to open an Alternative Learning School. The Options Program will serve a variety of students, K-12, across the West Plains by creating a personalized educational program tailored to meet each student's individual needs, the district said.

The Options Program is a parent partnership program designed to meet the needs of students and a bridge between off-site families and the district. The Options Program provides curriculum, support, guidance and helps monitor the progress of students.

The following services are offered through the program:

■ Students can receive consulting services and academic support both on-campus and off-campus (at-home).

■ Students can enroll in Reardan Online where a Reardan-Edwall certificated employee (K-8) and an Edmentum certificated employee (9-12) will assign, adjust and assess their learning progress through an online platform.

■ Students can enroll in the Options Program, one-day-a-week, enrichment classes (K-8) such as: STEM, Art, PE, Math, Science, History, Language Arts taught by a RESD certificated employee as well as enroll in additional enrichment classes taught by Community Based Instructors.
