The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office does not release names of individuals who report possible criminal or suspicious activities to dispatchers or alleged victims for this column. 

July 25

Traffic stops: 5

A caller complained about people speeding on Miles-Creston Road near her house, saying the speeding cars were close to causing accidents.

A collision was reported at Fort Spokane where a young woman suffered a severe laceration to her arm.

A Wilbur man said someone was stealing gravel from the county gravel pit.

A Grand Coulee man reported some stolen cell phones at Eaton Harbor on the National Park Service beach.

A Davenport woman reported a car vs. deer collision.

A Liberty Lake man reported a car vs. deer collision on Highway 2 at milepost 241.

July 26

Traffic stops: 13

A Kentucky man requested a welfare check on a Lincoln County man.

A Davenport woman reported motorcycles trespassing on her land on the 32500 block of Johns Rocky Way East.

A Wilbur woman said she locked her keys in her car.

A Davenport man requested a welfare check on his girlfriend, who he said left Davenport at 11 a.m. to walk to their residence near Hawk Creek and hadn’t yet seen her after about three hours.

A caller reported a vehicle driving 85 mph.

A Wilbur woman said her husband was sitting on the floor after possibly suffering from heat stroke.

A Davenport man said he saw a car hit a deer on Highway 2 at milepost 263. He said the woman driving the car said there was minor damage to her vehicle, but would be continuing on to Grand Coulee. The deer had minor injuries, he said.

July 27

Traffic stops: 17

A Davenport woman said a suspicious person had been walking around her house on the 500 block of Washington Street for the past few nights.

A man said he was selling his 1983 Ford F250 to another man, but the buyer hadn’t made any payments, so the caller wanted to report the truck stolen. He said the buyer took the radiator, starter and carburetor.

A caller said his wife was getting out of hand and had been terrible for the past few days. He said she was trying to break things and needed help.

Trespassing was reported on the 200 block of East Broadway Avenue in Reardan.

An abandoned vehicle was blocking Hesseltine Road.

A woman said tenants left her rental property destroyed at Lakeview Terrace.

A man called about getting information leading to getting his stolen vehicle back.

A Creston man said six cows were loose and was worried they’d be hit by farm machinery driving down the road.

A woman said she feared her boyfriend and was hiding from him in her car with the doors locked.

An Omak woman said her friend was involved in a crash in an undisclosed location.

July 28

Traffic stops: 1

A caller reported an injured deer in a roadway.

A Davenport woman reported a suspicious man driving around Four Corners Road.

A Davenport woman said a gray Dodge pickup passed three cars in a no-passing zone, causing west-bound traffic to have to get over to avoid a head-on collision.

A 911 hang-up returned to a landline at Leffel, Otis & Warwick in Davenport, but when dispatch tried returning the call, they were prompted to enter a caller’s extension.

A Creston woman said a man came up to her when she got home saying his car, which was parked near her mailbox, had overheated.

A Wilbur man said there was a man sleeping under the bridge at the Wilbur City Park. He also said he saw a skunk under the bridge.

A man said there was a baby rattlesnake in the campground at Fort Spokane.

A Harrington woman said her neighbor’s German Shepherd had been chained up in the neighbor’s front yard on Main Street with no food or water for two weeks while the neighbors were on vacation.

July 29

Traffic stops: 9

A Texas man said he heard a “singular loud noise” outside his motor home at the sporting complex on McInnis Road.

A Soap Lake man said he was heading east from Harrington on Highway 28 when a van came around a corner in his lane and caused him to go off the roadway while hitting his driver’s side mirror.

A caller said a silver car was traveling all over the roadway and almost hit the ditch multiple times and was moving into the lane of oncoming traffic. The car was heading into Reardan from Airway Heights.

A Spokane Valley woman said she was stuck on the beach across from Seven Bays with a dead batter and the marina wouldn’t assist her.

A Davenport woman reported a man in a black pickup at the intersection of Cottonwood and Hawk Creek Roads who said he was just putting his shoes back on. The woman said the situation rubbed her wrong.

Kids were prank calling 911 saying “hi, bye” then hanging up.

A Lincoln man said a funny colored Subaru almost hit him head-on.

Multiple callers reported a woman with four kids broken down outside Subway in Davenport.

An Odessa man said his girlfriend’s sister was throwing things and attacking his girlfriend.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Dept. asked for an LCSO officer to respond to an accident that happened in Adams County with a vehicle registered to a Sprague man.

A Harrington woman reported a white Toyota pickup crossing the center and yellow lines of traffic.

July 30

Traffic stops: 7

A disabled vehicle was found on Sprague Highway and Jack Brown Road.

A Davenport man said he received online threats.

A Spokane man said he helped a woman get her car out of a ditch. He said when she got out, she took off speeding 90 mph.

A Creston man said a man was constantly driving 60-70 mph on Underwood Canyon Road and almost hit his wife when she was checking the mail. He said the driver works at Doxie’s Diner in Wilbur.

An Odessa woman said a boy was consistently riding a golf cart around town.

A caller reported a van traveling across lanes and almost causing a head-on crash with a motorhome while the driver talked on his cellphone.

A disabled vehicle was reported behind U.S. Bank in Reardan.

A fire was reported in the Creston area.

An Omak woman reported a car vs. deer collision.

July 31

Traffic stops: 6

A Harrington man said he hit a deer on Rocklyn Road.

A Reardan man said two people were around a suspicious SUV at the Audubon Lake bird preserve.

A Creston man said he found an arrow in his garden and wanted to show it to a deputy.

A Hartline man said a suspicious pickup had been at the end of his driveway for 36 hours.

A caller said she got a call from a Hispanic woman crying, then a man came on the line asking if the caller was family and mentioned something about the cartel.

A caller said someone was breaking into a property on the 400 block of South Birch in Odessa.

Boaters yelled for help on a wakeboard boat broken down in the middle of Lake Roosevelt as they tried to get back to Lincoln.

A Creston man reported someone shooting on BLM land with a burn and shooting ban due to high fire risk.

A Davenport man reported he locked his keys in his car.

An Odessa man said his wife tried to stab him and cut his hands up.

A caller said her mother had passed away from breast cancer.

An alarm was reported going off at Buddy Boy Farms.

Criminal docket-July 27

Riley Vail and Cody Magruder were arraigned on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, theft of motor vehicle, first-degree theft exceeding $5,000 value and second-degree vehicle prowling stemming from a July 21 incident in which the two allegedly went through Reardan, Creston, Wilbur and Almira looking for vehicles to steal while driving a stolen pickup from Spokane County before ultimately being arrested in Almira. Vail entered a not-guilty plea and has a readiness hearing Sept. 14 and jury trial Oct. 6. Magruder had bail set at $45,000 and had the case continued to Aug. 3. A no-contact order between the two was court-ordered.
