Editor’s Note: This is an update to last week’s article on the six candidates who had filed before press time during a three-day special filing period Aug. 10-12.

LINCOLN COUNTY – Nine candidates used a special three-day filing period to file for county positions that hadn’t received any filers during the regular period in May Aug. 10-12. Four candidates filed for local positions.

Celeste Lewis of Reardan was the only local candidate to file after press time last week. She filed for re-election on the town council there. She joined Janie Shreck (Davenport school board), Taunya Van Pevenage (Hospital District No. 3) and Pat Hogan (Cemetery District No. 1; Reardan area) as the four candidates in our coverage area to file.

Elsewhere around the county, Leslie Krause and Jamie Nelson filed for the same school board position in Creston. Hannah Hand and Catherine Payne-Ferris filed for separate spots on Almira town council and Steven Ferris filed for an open commissioner spot for Parks and Recreation District No. 2 (Almira area).

Local positions that were never filled include Heather Panke’s spot on the Davenport school board, Michael Cronrath’s position as treasurer of Harrington, a Long Lake area cemetery commissioner position and two commissioner spots for the Davenport Parks and Recreation District.
