ODESSA – The administration at Odessa Memorial Healthcare Center has provided The Record with photos and names of two new nurse practitioners, who have recently begun working in Odessa. Administrative Assistant Kayla Glaze provided the following information.

Russell Jones, ARNP, is the newest full-time medical provider at the Odessa Clinic, following the resignation some weeks ago of Ruby Ayers, ARNP. He comes from Fosterburg, Ill., a quaint small town much like Odessa, although he says that Fosterburg makes Odessa look like a metropolis.

Jones has 25 years worth of experience as a nurse practitioner in emergency medicine and critical care hospitals. Prior to that, he was a nurse for five years and a paramedic for five years before that. He also served the country for seven years in the U.S. Navy.

Jones and his wife have five grown sons between the two of them. They also have three grandsons who adore grandpa Russell. If you are worried about keeping up with the Joneses, be prepared to spend some time in the great outdoors. He is an avid photographer, hiker and cyclist and also holds a masters training SCUBA license.

Gregory Proulx

Jones has a passion for his patients and is looking to be in Odessa until he retires. He says that as long as his body and mind are able to work he will continue providing excellent care to those in need.

Jones is already at work at the clinic, and those who wish to meet him are encouraged to stop by and do so.

Another new provider, Gregory Proulx, is also in Odessa as a "locum tenens" provider (someone who fills in for others temporarily). Proulx is originally from Maryland but currently resides in Texas. He is available to come to Odessa multiple times during the year to provide relief when providers need extended time off.
