Superior Court Judge Barkdull recuses self from auditor case

DAVENPORT – Lincoln County Superior Court Judge Jeff Barkdull recused himself from presiding over a case against the Lincoln County Auditor’s Office and auditor Chandra Schumacher, according to court documents filed Oct. 22.

The case, filed by the Washington Election Integrity Coalition United and Jerry Schulz asserting unproven claims of vote-flipping, additions and deletions, ballot box stuffing and party preference tracking by the auditor’s office during the 2020 election, hadn’t found a new judge to preside by press time.

In response, the plaintiffs filed an opposition to the motion to recuse, saying they aren’t seeking to overturn results of the 2020 election and that the defendants haven’t shown proof of bias.

On Oct. 20, the plaintiffs also filed their opposition to the Democratic Central Committee’s motion to intervene, according to court records.

Lincoln County Sheriff Wade Magers’ pre-trial concerning charges he’s facing of making a false or misleading statement to a public servant, obstructing a law enforcement officer and rendering criminal assistance in the third degree was pushed to Feb. 9 for witness interview negotiations, according to documents in Lincoln County District Court.

Magers, who entered a not-guilty plea on all three counts in July, was originally scheduled to appear Nov. 4. The trial date was set for March 21 at 9 a.m, according to court records.
