Pastor's Corner

We celebrate Christmas every year; Christmas is all around us.

The word CHRISTMAS means: the celebration of Christ.

MERRY means “may you be blessed”

MERRY CHRISTMAS means “have a blessed celebration of Christ”

CHRISTMAS CAROLS ON THE RADIO, IN THE STORES AND AT CHURCH all celebrate and bring to mind Jesus, a precious gift for us.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS represent the star of Bethlehem, marking the presence of Jesus.

CHRISTMAS TREES are a symbol of everlasting life.

CANDY CANES are in the shape of a shepherd’s staff, representing Jesus as a shepherd for us. Red is the blood of Jesus on the cross; white is the holiness of Jesus.

SANTA CLAUS means Saint Nicholos, a Christian of 200 AD, who helped children with needed gifts.

CHRISTMAS WREATHS: the circle is eternal and the evergreens are life, eternal life. Also, the circle can mean the crown of thorns that Jesus wore to the cross.

THE POINSETTIA PLANT represents the star of Bethlehem, with the red being the blood of Christ, and the plant itself as life in the midst of darkness.

THE GIVING OF GIFTS comes from both the gifts given Jesus by the wise men and the gift of Jesus for our lives and salvation.

The Christmas sights and sounds all around us call to mind Jesus and His love.

Merry Christmas,

Pastor Jeff Milsten
