Davenport school board approves three new hires

DAVENPORT—The school board approved three new hires, finalized its meeting calendar for 2022 and agreed to transfer funds to buy a new bus at its final meeting of 2021 Monday, Dec. 13.

The board approved Gerly Bouchard as food service assistant, Brandan Rainwater as assistant high school boys basketball coach and Jennifer Doyle as registrar/district office assistant.

The board also agreed to transfer $21,078.11 from the general fund to purchase a new school bus.

John Doyle resigned his paraprofessional position, so new business manager Dana Telecky presented the board a plan to combine paraprofessional positions after a 4.5 hour special education position was approved in November. The proposal would cost $48,692 and will go before the board in January.

The board also approved its 2022 meeting calendar. Its regular meeting dates are Jan. 31, Feb. 28, March 28, April 25, May 23, June 29, July 25, Aug. 22, Sept. 26, Oct. 24, Nov. 28 and Dec. 19. Departmental presentations will occur April 18, and a budget meeting is scheduled for May 9 and June 13. A workshop meeting was scheduled for Oct. 10. All meeting dates are on Mondays.

The 2022 school board will consist of chair Deanna Fitzpatrick, vice chair Garrett Husky, Tami Odenrider and Janie Schreck as the district prepares to make a superintendent transition from Jim Kowalkowski to Chad Prewitt in July. A vacant spot remains open on the board after no one filed to replace Heather Panke in this year’s election.
