La Nina pattern expected to persist through winter

DAVENPORT—Last Thursday brought 4.3 measured inches of snow here, which was a Jan. 6 record since the National Weather Service began recording daily precipitation in 1893.

The snowfall brought over half of Davenport’s January snowfall average in one day. The city usually averages 7.5 inches of snowfall in the first calendar month, NWS lead meteorologist Charlotte Dewey said.

“You could say that Davenport got half a month worth of snow in one day,” Dewey said.
