Odessa Chamber plans hospitality tent

ODESSA – The Odessa Chamber of Commerce met March 8, mainly to discuss plans for the Desert 100 hospitality tent. Chris Crossley encouraged community members to volunteer for shifts serving and cashiering. Open shifts are listed on the Odessa WA Facebook page, Crossley said, and she can be contacted at 509-988-0729 to sign. A shuttle for workers will be running from town to the site and back the weekend of Mar. 31-Apr. 3, 2022.

Chamber approved the purchase of Ukrainian national flags to fly in the downtown corridor in support of the people of Ukraine. Some Odessa area Germans from Russia trace their lineage back to the Bessarabia area of Ukraine. The Odessa Historical Museum has extensive histories, photos and memorabilia of area families’ journeys from Germany to the Bessarabia area in the early 1800s, then the migration to the U.S. later in that century and the next.

It was announced that Chamber dues letters would be mailed out soon. Businesses and individuals may become members and attend the monthly meetings and participate in Chamber events and activities promoting local businesses and encouraging tourism and shopping in Odessa. If you do not receive a membership form by mail, they are available on the Chamber website. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 12, at noon at Odessa Golf and RV Club House.
