Howard E. Schaffner, 90, passed away on April 19, 2022 at the Spokane Veteran’s Home after a long bout with cancer. Home was Harrington, Wash. Howard was born Dec. 18, 1931 in Deer Park, Wash. to Urban and Cora (Holee) Schaffner.

Howard is a veteran of the Korean War, where he earned several medals, including the Korean Service Medal with 1 bronze star, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He grew up in Ford, Wash., on the family homestead located on the Spokane Indian Reservation.
