Panke wins Player of the Year at LC State

CORVALLIS--Kristof Panke tied for Player of the Year honors and joined three Lewis-Clark State College Men’s Golf teammates on the All-Cascade Collegiate Conference team, while Warrior first-year coach Brady Campbell was voted the CCC’s Coach of the Year, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Panke tied University of British Columbia’s Ethan De Graff and Russell Howlett for Player of the Year honors as all had scoring averages of 72.8 in conference play. Panke joined LC State’s Devon Caruso, Carlos Davila and Jorgen Lie Viken with all-conference honors on the seven-man squad.

The Warrior men finished second in the conference regular-season and postseason to UBC and should receive an at-large berth to nationals.

Panke, a freshman from Davenport and a member of the local Class of 2021 led the Warriors with 801 strokes during 11 rounds, matching the same totals for Howlett. De Graaf played in only nine rounds and had a 655 total, also for a 72.8 strokes per round average.

The CCC uses the three regular-season conference tournaments held in the fall and spring as well as the postseason conference tournament to determine the Player of the Year and all-conference selections. A men's golfer must participate in at least nine rounds and a women's golfer must play in at least six rounds to be eligible. All rounds played in the conference tournaments are then added together and an average score is used to determine the top seven male and female golfers who receive all-conference honors.
