Lincoln County Museum re-opens May 25

County Museum turns 50 this year

DAVENPORT—The Lincoln County Museums is back open for visitors from all over the state and country to check out beginning Wednesday, May 25. The museum will mark a notable anniversary this year of 50 years.

The museum will be open from Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., open Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. and closed on Mondays this season. The season is scheduled to run until Sept. 30.

The Lincoln County Historical Society operates the museum, which is located at the corner of Park and Seventh Streets. A suggested donation for admission is $5 for adults and $4 for seniors age 55 and over.

The museum will have co-directors this year in Phyllis Luiten and Johanna Ellis. The two were approved by the Historical Society Board in March.

The Historical Society is looking for volunteers to serve on committees including accessions, collections, events, exhibits, facilities, fundraising, membership, research and social media.

The museum is run on a nonprofit basis and accepts monetary donations and memberships.

Individual memberships and family memberships each cost $25 for the year. One can also make a one-time donation of $200 and will allow the giver and their household free admission to the museum for the rest of the life of the original member.

Donations and volunteer applications can be dropped off at the museum or mailed to the museum.
