Ellen Marie Geissler, 90, of Davenport, Washington passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022. Ellen was born on

June 4, 1932 in Davenport to Theodore and Ella Harms.

She enjoyed growing up on the farm near Mondovi and getting into mischief while doing farm chores with her twin sister, Elaine. She often told the story about hanging Elaine on a nail in the chicken coop and Elaine couldn’t get down. Since they looked identical, they enjoyed pulling pranks on boyfriends and teachers by switching places. Ellen graduated from Davenport High School in 1950. Ellen attended and graduated from Pacific Lutheran University where she met and married John W. Unis in 1953. They had two sons, Brian and Richard. Ellen earned a Master of Arts degree in Home Economics from Washington State University. She taught home economics at Reardan High School until retiring in 1984. Ellen married Echo Geissler in 1984. The two of them were actively engaged with church activities at Zion Lutheran Church in Davenport. They also enjoyed tour bus trips to see the sights and attend Nordic festivals throughout the west and northern plains, and visiting friends and family. Ellen was a member of the Rocklyn Homemakers Club and enjoyed gardening, sewing and baking.

Ellen is survived by her two sons, Brian Unis and Richard Unis, daughter-in-law Cynthia Unis, grandchildren Kristina Unis, Hillary Unis, Hannah (Unis) Farney, Travis and Stacy Geissler, and their son Brody. She is also survived by step-children Lorri Tiemann, Terry Geissler and a host of loving friends and relatives. Ellen is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elaine; husband, Echo; and stepson, Lynn.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport, WA with Pastor Stacey Friedlein, Officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Zion Lutheran Church. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at http://www.strate-funeral.com for the Geissler family.
