ODESSA-Rising crime rates including petty theft and break-ins are happening more often here.

Police Chief Les Jimerson asked the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity at the town council meeting on July 25.

He said that suspicious activity is often reported after the fact and asked that the public report immediately after an incident.

Susan Rodden, a town resident, voiced concerns over the rising crime rate.

She said that motion lights and cameras had been placed, but unknown individuals had damaged the lights.

Rodden said that this did not deter them from coming onto her property during the late evening hours.

Police Chief Les Jimerson reiterated that suspicious activity had been reported and documented.

Jimerson said these individuals look for cameras and are often covered up with hoodies and face masks.

He reported two speeding violations and one suspicious activity.

Jimerson also reported two EMS responses, one for high blood pressure and the other was a pregnant individual.

There was a no-contact violation that was reported.

The council unanimously voted for June 19 to be added to the Personnel Policy section 8.9 Holidays.

Councilmember Amy Gimmestad gave her resignation notice at this week’s meeting. She is moving out of city limits and will not be able to serve on the council.
