Community starts prep for 51st annual Deutschesfest

ODESSA- The Chamber of Commerce and several volunteers are hard at work preparing for the upcoming Deutchesfest weekend on Sept. 15- 18.

The Chamber of Commerce and community members have made cabbage rolls, sauerkraut and homemade pickles from recipes handed down through generations.

Locally made bratwurst will be readily available.

Preparation for these recipes started at the beginning of August.

Tables and benches are being repainted black, red and gold to represent the German flag.

The Biergarten will take place within the community center for fest.

They will be setting up outdoor fencing, cleaning beer coolers and cleaning the bars.

German flags will be hung through Main Street and signs welcoming visitors will be placed at the entrance of Odessa.

Locally brewed German beer will be available from Odessa's own Rocky Mountain Coulee Brewing Co.

There is parking available on residential streets adjacent to downtown for automobiles.

Odessa's Reiman and tourist park start filling up a week before Deutchesfest.

The Odessa School District allows RV parking and tent camping at its Finney Field sports complex.

The location is on West Fourth Avenue. Across from the museum there will be signs entering town.
