HARRINGTON – City Council members Stephen Hardy, Joe Armand and David Buddrius met to choose a newly formed Library Board on Monday, Sept. 19.

Denisa Holling was elected the President after a discussion and vote by others interested in various open positions on the board.

“I moved down here seven years ago,” Holling said. “Just wanting to get to know everybody and be involved with different things.”

Holling hopes to bring new ideas to town and wants to enjoy community involvement.

Kelly Peterson was named Vice President of the board.

Peterson is a substitute teacher with the Harrington School District.

“I want to be a part of the community,” Peterson said. “I want to find a niche that works well for me.”

The board picked Alicia Zeiler to be their secretary. Zeiler’s parents are Ron and Linda Mielke.

She is married and farms in the local area.

Marge Sackett and Trudy Wagner were elected officer positions.

The newly formed Library Board will meet on the first and third Thursday of the month.

Once the elected members are more comfortable in their new positions, the board will move meetings to monthly.

The board will hire a new librarian after the departure of Marge Womach, the former librarian.

The Library Board’s official first meeting will be on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 4:30 p.m.
