Davenport earns ribbons at league championships

Both boys teams finish third, six athletes get top 10 finishes

HARRINGTON-Another warmer-than-usual fall day lent to a sunny and bright course ahead of District 7/9 cross country runners at the NE1B/2B league championship meet Saturday, Oct. 15.

Davenport, the host school, had both middle and high school boys teams finish in third place, while six Gorilla athletes won ribbons as top 10 finishers in the meet hosted at the local golf course.

The school's top finisher was seventh-grader Charlotte Soliday, who won the middle school girls race (and would have finished in the top 15 in the boys race). Jaeger Jacobsen was the top-placing boys runner, finishing third in the high school race.

The meet was the final of this year for middle schoolers, while high schoolers have two weeks to prepare for 1B/2B regionals at the Chewelah Golf Course Saturday, Oct. 29. That meet will determine qualifiers for the state championships.
