Mayor Daniels outlines goals

REARDAN - Mayor Gail Daniels’ goals for 2023 are to update the town’s infrastructure and to embrace patriotism.

The town council, under Daniel’s leadership, has applied for several state grants to be used to accomplish these goals. A top priority is to update the town’s sewer lines.

She also wants to construct three curb bulbs on Broadway Avenue.

“Curb bulbs extend the sidewalk into the street, reducing the time and distance it takes for a pedestrian to cross,” Daniels said. “They increase safety because crossing locations are more visible, and cars cannot pass on the right as they are funneled into two lanes.”

Another priority is replacing the park’s weathered and aging pavilion. Besides building a covered area for community gatherings, the town has applied for a recreation grant that, if received, will allow the installation of new playground equipment.

Finally, Daniels wants the residents to embrace the town’s flag project. Currently, there are 75 households known to fly the American flag in front of their houses. She would like that number to double in 2023. She would also like to see every resident and business on Highway 2 display the flag.

“We are grateful for our freedom and our community’s rich military heritage,” Daniels said. “We want to show our appreciation to the men and women who have served our country. When people pass through town, I’d like people to see that Reardan is the most patriotic town in the state.”
