Annual competition to benefit food banks

Davenport students celebrate earning the prized Golden Plunger after Winterfest activities in Dec. 2021. Reardan has homecourt advantage this year and is hoping to retreive the Golden Plunger for the maroon and gray, while Davenport hopes to keep it where the colors are red and white.

REARDAN–The "Golden Plunger" is up for grabs as Davenport and Reardan face off in Winterfest, the annual competition that benefits local food banks and awards bragging rights for school spirit.

The week-long event culminates with the high schools' boys and girls basketball teams playing each other in Reardan on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

ASB officers from both schools met and organized the event to encourage fellow students to solicit donations of non-perishable food items from their communities. Points are awarded based on the number of items donated.
