MILES — Human remains were found near Detillion Campground, which is upriver of Porcupine Bay, on Lake Roosevelt last week.

According to police records, the National Park Service informed the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Thursday, March 16 that “remains have been found” and “will now be making contact with the prosecutor to ensure that the remains are historical and not modern.”

Though the origin of the remains is under investigation, they are likely ancient, National Park Service officials said after the case was transferred to the Spokane Tribe of Indians.
