Two-day quilt show coming to Odessa

Event occurs along with citywide yard sale

ODESSA — The 29th annual Spring Fling Quilt Show will take place Friday and Saturday, April 28-29.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day downtown at the intersection of Third Street and Fourth Avenue, and at Odessa High School.

Admission is charged.

The event is more than just quilts; seminars are also on tap, event spokeswoman Laura Estes said.

Featured quilters Charisma Horton and Rob Appell, nationally known and published quilt pattern designers and teachers, will be onsite both days of the show to share tips and stories, Estes said.

They will have quilts on display and patterns and tools they have designed available for purchase, she said.

In addition, more than 150 quilts will be on display in the Odessa High School gymnasium, 311 S. First St., Estes said. There will also be a Hoffman Challenge Quilt Trunk Show and a local Quilt Guild Challenge.

Quilting demonstrations are planned both days of the show.

While the quilt show is taking place, the annual citywide yard sale will be happening. Maps are available at the quilt show and from downtown businesses.

The Old Town Hall Restoration Society will also host a sale benefitting the renovation of the building.
