County gets fourth broadband grant

DAVENPORT — Lincoln County was awarded its fourth broadband-related grant Monday, May 1. The county’s Deer Meadows and Seven Bays FTTx project will receive up to $8,921,342 in Coronavirus Capital Program Funds in the 2021-23 state capital budget.

The funding was approved by the state Broadband Office based on the Nov. 22 Broadband Infrastructure Grant Program.

The grant was awarded on a matching basis, but commissioner Scott Hutsell said Monday the county won’t have to use capital dollars for that match.

This is the fourth broadband grant the county has received. Others include a fiber grant to Creston, Harrington and Almira, a grant for broadband in Odessa, Sprague, Reardan and Hawk Creek and a grant for broadband in Wilbur and Davenport.
