Paige to change plea next week

DAVENPORT — A Spokane boy charged with first-degree criminal assistance stemming from circumstances surrounding the death of 15-year-old Shadrach Hall-Turner in Reardan Feb. 22 is expected to change his plea next week.

14-year-old Izaiah Paige entered a not-guilty plea on his charges Tuesday, May 30, but has a change-of-plea hearing scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 13.

Paige is charged with rendering criminal assistance to 17-year-old Koedi White by lying to 911 dispatchers about the shooting death of Hall-Turner. White was sentenced to 124-130 months in juvenile detention on a first-degree manslaughter charge last week.

Pools open in coming days

DAVENPORT — Two Lincoln County outdoor pools open for the summer season soon. The Davenport Water Park opens Wednesday, June 14, while the Odessa Pool opens Sunday, June 18.

Hours in Davenport are 1-7 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon-6 p.m. Saturday and closed Sunday and holidays.

Swimming lessons will be offered July 10-21 and July 24-Aug. 4. Over 70 students have already signed up for the $35 two-week course, but some spots are still open, City Hall staff said.

Hours in Odessa are 1-5 p.m. open swim, 5-6 p.m. adult swim (no lifeguard) and 6-7:30 p.m. open swim Tuesday-Saturday, 1-5 p.m. open swim Sunday and closed Monday.

Lessons are offered July 11-14 and July 18-21. Sign-ups for the $20 course must be in person during open pool hours, Town Hall staff said.

Hawk Creek Road tentatively closes June 19

DAVENPORT — Hawk Creek Road’s tentative closure date to through traffic is Monday, June 19, Lincoln County Public Works Director Dave Orvis said this week.

Much of the road is getting paved this summer and will be closed as a throughfare from Davenport to Seven Bays and Deer Meadows. A pilot car will guide local traffic up the road, Orvis said.

State Highway 25 will be the fastest route for traveling from Davenport to spots like Seven Bays, Deer Meadows and Hawk Creek Campground.

Odessa Museum open Sundays

ODESSA — The local Historiches Museum is now open for the season on Sunday afternoons and by appointment.

Locals or town passersby interested in learning about town history can call 509-988-0234 to schedule an appointment.

The museum will be open every day during Deutschesfest in September.
