- Davenport Mayor Karen Carruth welcomed Stacie Eichinger to the city. Eichinger crossed through town during a 3,800-mile trek across the country on behalf of young cancer patients.

- Traffic congested in Reardan due to construction on U.S. Highway 2 that ran from the west end of town to Espanola Road.

- A 44-year-old man suspected in carjacking near Reardan was arrested by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.

- Davenport School District operations were put under the microscope in a management and operational review.

50 years ago

- Watering hours were limited so the Davenport reservoir water level was above the fire danger level.

- 69 4-Hers received ribbons at the Lincoln County demonstration day.

75 years ago

- The remains of Daniel Murray, who was suspected of killing his mother, Lillie Lesnett, were found in a field near Govan.

- The Lincoln-Republic district Boy Scout swim meet was held at the pool in Odessa.

- Locals gathered to admire a 1949 Ford that pulled into town and was sold to Miles rancher Jack Rooke.

100 years ago

- Senator C.E. Myers of Davenport received the Republican nomination in the race for the Fifth Congressional District.

- Three trucks began hauling lumber from the Sutton sawmill on the Spokane Reservation to Davenport.

- Fred Mangis of Creston was arrested for striking and kicking fellow townsman Will Debord. "There is said to have been trouble between Mangis and Debord for several years past," the paper printed.
