Candidate profiles coming next week

Profiling possibilities in primary

DAVENPORT — The primary election is just over a month away, and the late summer voters will decide the final two candidates that advance to the general election for races with more than two filers Tuesday, Aug. 1.

This year, four races in our coverage area require whittling down to two candidates.

The races include:

Harrington city council seat No. 5: Steven Wright, Gavin Wright and Kelly Foreman

Sprague city council seat No. 5: Jeffrey Smith, Trace De Garmo and RonDel Krauter

Odessa town council seat No. 5: Michael Igo, Laura Caler and Marlene Kramer

Odessa mayor: Bill Crossley, Jeremy Smith and Ed Hayden

One of these races will be featured in The Record-Times each week in July leading up to the primary election.

Like last year’s election profiles, each candidate will be asked the same questions and required to respond via in 100 words or less.

Unlike last year’s primary election profiles, candidates will be featured on the same page, with one race featured each week instead of one candidate per race.

The other candidate on the primary ballot is Jo Gilchrist, who is seeking re-election for Lincoln County Commissioner District No. 1 and appears in the primary since it’s a partisan race. But Gilchrist isn’t facing any challengers.

Contested two-person races will be further covered leading up to the November general election.

Primary election ballots will be mailed Wednesday, July 12.
