ODESSA — A former resident and professional graphic designer was the mastermind behind the design of this year’s Deutschesfest T-Shirt.

38-year-old Jesse Scheller, now of Spokane, created the logo that he called a “marriage” between Odessa’s wheat farming and German heritage and rock-style bands that frequent the Biergarten at Deutschesfest.

“We felt it met people right in the middle,” Scheller, who grew up on the family farm near town until 2006, said.
