DAVENPORT — For many Lincoln County hunters, the turn to chilly and windy weather means one thing: Deer and elk season is approaching.

And many hunters like to do their tagging right here in Lincoln County.

There are three Fish and Wildlife Game Management Units either fully or partially in Lincoln County.

Unit 130, known as the Cheney unit, is land east of state Highway 231 and extends on the east border to U.S. Highway 195. The Spokane River is the north boundary before curving south along Spokane city limits and intersecting with Highway 195.
