Campfire Ban lifted at Lake Roosevelt

COULEE DAM — Effective at 12:01 am Friday, Sept. 29, campfires will be allowed in established fire rings in campgrounds, day-use areas and on lakeshores below the high-water mark throughout Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area. Charcoal grills will also be allowed at this time.

Regulations require beach campfires to be less than three feet in diameter and at least 10 feet from the nearest beach logs, structure or vegetation. In addition, rock rings can’t be used or created for beach fires or pits dig for fires. Fires must be always attended and completely extinguished with water before going to bed or leaving the campsite.

It is also illegal to burn chemically treated wood, painted wood, wood with staples and household garbage like plastic.
