Snow dumps over weekend

ODESSA — It has been a relatively dry and mild winter so far, but last weekend carried weather more familiar to the region for this time of year.

Between 3-7 inches of snow fell in Eastern Washington and Lincoln County, depending on where one is located, Saturday, Dec. 9 and Sunday morning, Dec. 10.

The snowfall covered major highways in Lincoln County and forced travelers to drive between 25 and 45 miles per hour. Just south of Odessa, State Highway 21 was closed around 9:05 p.m. last Saturday after a semitruck slid off the road and blocked lanes of travel.

According to police records, getting the truck off the road took extra time after the first tow truck called got in a crash itself.
