Stocker trial continued to April

Feds still weighing taking case

SPRAGUE — The trial of a local man accused of possessing over 100 images and videos displaying child pornography was continued again this week, this time to April 10.

Jonathan Ray Stocker, 42, is charged with five counts of first-degree possession of depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and one count of second-degree possession of depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct after police allegedly discovered over 100 child pornography-related files on a laptop at his Sprague Highway Road residence late last summer.

The prosecution and defense is still waiting to hear if Stocker’s case will be picked up federally. If so, it would likely be heard in Spokane.

A new readiness hearing was set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 12. The jury trial is currently scheduled for April 10, if federal authorities decline the case.

This is the second continuation in the case. The case was first continued from Dec. 20 to Feb. 21 in late November.

Stocker was arrested Sept. 1 and has been held in Lincoln County Jail since.
