Preliminary election results tallied

ODESSA - Voters here have approved Proposition No. 1, a measure to increase funding for the Police Department, during the primary election Tuesday, Aug. 6.

A preliminary county shows the proposition received 103 votes in favor (58.86%) and 72 votes against (41.14%).

The measure authorizes a levy lid lift to raise the 2025 property tax rate from the current approximate rate of $2.55 per $1,000 of assessed value to $3.375 per $1,000 of assessed value.

This increase is expected to generate approximately $40,000 annually to fund the Odessa Police Department and law enforcement services.
