Kids Fishing Derby turns 10

DAVENPORT — The Davenport Lions Club Kids Fishing Derby, a cherished tradition in Lincoln County, is set for Friday, July 18, from 7 a.m. to noon at Cottonwood Creek, coinciding with the city’s annual Pioneer Days celebration. The event, which draws families from across the region, offers children a chance to fish for stocked trout in a community-focused atmosphere, fostering memories and outdoor skills.

Bob Guhlke, a 79-year-old lifelong Davenport resident and dedicated Lions Club member, founded the derby 16 years ago after a chance encounter at Cottonwood Creek.
