Pioneer Days on deck this weekend with parade

DAVENPORT — Davenport’s annual Pioneer Days celebration is back this weekend with a full schedule of family-friendly activities, live entertainment, and community traditions, including the return of the 5K “Pioneer Plod,” a parade through downtown, and the 10th anniversary of the Kids Fishing Derby.

Festivities begin Friday, July 18, with the Kids Fishing Derby at 7 a.m. in City Park, hosted by the Davenport Lions Club. Other highlights on Friday include a chalk art contest, a visit from Smokey the Bear, and a movie in the park showing of Toy Story at 9 p.m.
