Reptiles bring lessons alive
ODESSA - Families got hands-on with pythons, hog-nose snakes and more during the Snakes N Bugs program Thursday, Aug. 7.
Presenter Blake Nelson, 43, of Spokane, taught safe handling, identifying common Eastern Washington species - including rattlesnakes - and what to do during an encounter.
He also shared facts about shedding, live birth and the sound of a rattlesnake's rattle.
Children petted and held snakes, with local teens helping younger attendees get an up-close look.
"The best part is getting the kids up close to them [the snakes]," said Nelson....
