DAVENPORT —Lincoln NFL Flag Football has opened registration for its upcoming season, inviting boys and girls ages 5 to 12 across Lincoln County to participate. The non-contact program, serving Davenport, Reardan, Ritzville, Harrington, Odessa, and Wilbur, fosters football fundamentals, sportsmanship, teamwork, and community engagement in an inclusive environment.
“This is our third year as league and town coordinators. We both have kids who play, so when we were presented with the opportunity to become coordinators, we said yes. It’s a great program that provides kids the opportunity to learn the basics of football and teamwork in a positive environment. Watching the kids build connections with their teammates and improve week by week is so much fun,” said Heather Wagner, league and Davenport town coordinator.
Matt Wagner, former league coordinator and a middle and high school football coach, added, “Flag football is important in youth sports because it promotes physical activity, teamwork, and skill development in a fun and safe environment. It teaches the fundamentals of the game and is a great opportunity for the youth in our area.”
Run by volunteers, the league is led by coordinators Erica Winzer and Heather Wagner, with additional town coordinators in each participating community. The program aims to promote sportsmanship, socialization, health, wellness, and a love for flag football while uniting the Lincoln County community.
Registration includes an NFL reversible team jersey and flags and is open through Friday, Aug. 29. Late registrations will be accepted until Sept. 5, after which no further registrations will be processed. Davenport offers online registration via a QR code distributed at back-to-school night on Aug. 25 and on the first day of school. Paper forms are available at Davenport Elementary School or by emailing lincoln.nfl.flag@gmail.com. Completed paper registrations and checks, payable to Lincoln NFL Flag, must be mailed to P.O. Box 515, Davenport, WA 99122. Other towns follow similar timelines but have separate registration processes.
Practices for Davenport begin the second week of September on Tuesdays and Thursdays, leading to five Saturday games starting Sept. 27. Games will be played at local fields in Davenport, with schedules provided closer to the season start.
