Close races boost local turnout

Certification confirms tight margins

Lincoln County certified its election Tuesday, Nov. 25, closing out a cycle marked by several close races and a modest bump in turnout.

“Two years ago turnout was 40.56%, and this year it was 43.54%,” Elections Manager Norm Caley said. “Davenport mayor was really close — 14 votes difference. It could’ve changed if more people voted.” Caley said any of the contested races could have shifted with higher participation.

Across 46 precincts, 3,836 of the county’s 8,811 registered voters cast ballots. Despite recent concerns about postal delays, only 37 ballots arrived too late to be counted.
