County IT thwarts brute-force cyber login attack

DAVENPORT - Lincoln County’s information technology team repelled a recent surge in brute-force cyberattacks while advancing high-speed network upgrades and a new server purchase despite sharply higher hardware costs.

Information Systems Director Keith Nelson gave the update Monday, April 6, to Lincoln County Chairman Scott Hutsell and Commissioners Rob Coffman and Jo Gilchrist.

Nelson said the county faced unusually heavy "brute-force" login attempts last week on a public-facing server, with traffic far above normal levels.
