Winter wheat planting mirrors 2025

DAVENPORT – A prospective plantings report released March 31 shows Washington growers planted 1.85 million acres of winter wheat.

That is unchanged from 2025, the National Agricultural Statistics Service reported in its 2026 Prospective Plantings Report.

Spring wheat planning is expected to be about 450,000 acres, a decrease of about 5% from 2025. Last year, the agency reported 475,000 acres of spring wheat planted in Washington state.

Barley acres are up just slightly from 2025 at 70,000, the report said.
