Know rules before lighting fireworks

DAVENPORT — With the Fourth of July approaching, county residents should check with fire districts and municipalities before igniting fireworks.

State law (Revised Code of Washington 70.77.395) allows consumer fireworks to be sold and purchased from noon to 11 p.m. June 28, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. June 29 through July 4, and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on July 5.

Discharge is permitted from noon to 11 p.m. on June 28, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. June 29 through July 3, 9 a.m. to midnight on July 4, and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on July 5.

But the law allows local jurisdictions to establish their own fireworks rules.
