ODESSA – A proposed $5 million streetscape may bring lower speed limits, eliminate parking and lead to bulbouts downtown, all in the name of pedestrian safety.
The preliminary design calls for lowering the speed limit from 30 mph to 25 mph along First Avenue between Cedar and Seventh streets. It also calls for removing parking at First Avenue intersections with state Highway 21, North and South Second Streets, and Seventh Street.
Bulbouts – sidewalk extensions into the roadway – would be installed at the intersections of Fourth Street and state Highway 21, and First Avenue and First Street.
