HARRINGTON - Wheat harvest is underway with early yields looking better than expected in some areas.
Highline Grain Growers Chief Financial Officer Beau Duffsaid the southern "garden" area of the county is more than half harvested.
"The yields I'm hearing are probably above average," Duff said. "It depends on the farmer, but the guys I've talked to said their yields are better than they expected."
Duff said early-season moisture benefited the crop more than expected despite drier conditions later.
