Attorney reports on caseload

DAVENPORT — Lincoln County’s public defender told commissioners Monday, Aug. 3, that the current caseload is manageable under the weighted caseload system.

David Hearrean reported a weighted caseload of 78.27 cases so far this year, with 135 total cases. One resolved homicide counted as seven cases.

“I don’t expect it to be that hot next year... So, we’re on track here,” Hearrean said. “I think I can give you another good solid two years, maybe three.”

Hearrean said cooperation with judges and prosecuting attorneys has allowed some cases to be resolved before they reach the docket.
