OLYMPIA — With large fires still burning in Spokane County and The Okanogan, a statewide fire ban has been issued through Sept. 30.
Gov. Bob Ferguson ordered the fire ban Saturday, Aug. 8, as part of his state of emergency declaration due to continued drought conditions and summertime temperatures.
The declaration includes a statewide prohibition on most outdoor and agricultural burning.
It also prohibits burning yard waste, trash weeds, bonfires and campfires not in contained fire pits. Farmers are also prohibited from using fire to clear land following harvest.
