Pumpkins and winter squash are filling late season farmers markets and grocery store produce displays. Different varieties have varying ideal cooking methods. Some are best, baked or roasted to bring out the rich flavor. Others, like most pumpkins and hard shell Hubbard varieties, are ideal for steaming or boiling, then mashed or pureed to add to recipes.
