Fall pile burns planned

DAVENPORT — The National Park Service may burn slash piles as part of prescribed fire work at Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area.

Burns are being planned northeast of Fort Spokane, near Miles Road and Cougi Lane; southwest of the Keller Ferry marina; and off Spring Canyon Campground Road.

Ignition is expected between early October and December, when weather and fuel conditions are favorable, according to the park service. Each burn should be finished in one day, and crews will monitor the sites until they are out.
