DAVENPORT - Speakers turning out for a public hearing Monday, Oct. 5, were divided over issues related to development of data centers in Lincoln County.
A standing-room crowd filled the courthouse, with speakers standing in the hallway for the hearing on a six-month moratorium on new data center and battery-storage permits. About 34 more people joined online.
Alice Melewski of Wilbur supported the moratorium, noting it's just a matter of time before a developer proposes building a data center in the county.
"We need to get it right," she said of data center regulations.
